WhatsApp Lists

Product Designer

I contributed to the launch of WhatsApp Lists, enabling users to organize conversations more efficiently. This project involved multiple prototypes, reviews, and iterations across product teams. The feature also expanded Favorites and Labels for Business users. Lists launched globally in 2024.

WhatsApp Business Discovery

I led the design of WhatsApp's first business discovery feature, enabling users to find local businesses. This project involved navigating several data quality, privacy, and security challenges. The feature launched in Brazil in late 2021 and expanded to South America in 2022.

Google Care Studio

I contributed to Google Care Studio, a project that emerged from the merger of Google DeepMind Health and Google AI teams to develop a unified health platform for US clinicians. I worked on patient record viewing and search features for the mobile app.

Alphabet COVID-19 Response

During the COVID-19 crisis in 2020, I joined a small Google team of designers, engineers, and clinicians at the UK Department of Health. We built hospital dashboards to track available beds, supplies, and test results, displayed on TVs across hospitals in London.

Streams COVID-19 Response

I contributed to the launch COVID-19 test result viewing in Streams during the first wave of the pandemic. Streams, a Google DeepMind mobile app, enables clinicians to deliver faster patient care with alerts and results viewing.

I led the redesign of Streams, a Google DeepMind mobile app for clinicians. The update adopted Google's design language while enhancing accessibility and readability, ensuring a smooth transition without clinical errors.

Streams Design System

While at Google DeepMind, I led the creation of healthcare-specific patterns for Material Design. These include a stricter use of warning colors, health data formatters, iconography guidelines, and typography improvements. The design system set a foundation for clinical user interfaces that are safe and scalable and eventually became a contribution to the next iteration of Material Design.

Hi, I'm Nuno, an iOS developer & product designer based in Tokyo, Japan, originally from Porto, Portugal.

I create products that enrich lives through simple, thoughtful, and delightful design. My goal is to make technology more humane, approachable, and safe for everyone.

I love collaborating closely with multidisciplinary people from diverse backgrounds and am always ready to take on new challenges. Right now, I’m challenging myself to learn a new language, build a sustainable business, and live a fulfilling life.
